FAQ:

1. What is KALO Fitness? KALO Fitness is a boutique coaching studio specializing in women's health, fitness, wellness & community. We provide a holistic approach that bridges the gap between fitness, nutrition, and lifestyle.

2. What does "KALO" mean? The word KALO is derived from the Greek word "Kalon," meaning beauty that is more than skin deep. We believe in nurturing both physical and inner strength by aligning our actions with our core values. Fitness and nervous system regulation are the main tools we use to build a purposeful life from the inside-out.

3. What services does KALO Fitness offer? We offer a variety of services including:

  • Small Group Training (4-5 women per class)

  • Personal Training (one on one)

  • KALO “EQ” (Pilates style classes)

  • Community Events

  • Sauna/Cold Plunge

  • Breathwork

  • Virtual Training & Challenges

  • Functional Nutrition

  • Pre/Post Natal Support

  • Lifestyle Coaching

4. What makes KALO Fitness different from other fitness studios? KALO is so much more than just a gym. It’s a community of like minded women who desire a different approach to the traditional model of fitness. One of the biggest things that separates us is our focus on the nervous system as the foundational pillar of health. We use modalities like the cold plunge and breathwork to teach clients how to regulate and create resiliency in their lives. Every offering we have is rooted in knowing yourself and your WHY, and creating habits that personally align. In addition, at KALO we understand that women’s bodies are different than men’s, and should be trained accordingly. We focus exclusively on strength training as this form of exercise is the most effective way to prevent injury, preserve bone mass, create metabolic health and balance out hormones. No matter what phase of life you’re in, you’ll find the tools to support you in your wellness journey here.

5. Can I book a class on my own? Unfortunately not. Because our studio is small group/personally training, we place clients individually into sessions. This allows for accountability on both ends, and also provides ease with scheduling. In your initial consultation you will be linked with one of the owners to schedule your sessions. You are able to cancel sessions on your own using our scheduling platform. Travel a lot for work? No problem. Just message us weekly as you’re in town and we will place you accordingly.

6. What are the benefits of small group training at KALO Fitness? Small group training at KALO Fitness offers several benefits:

  • Personalized Attention: With only 4-5 women in each session, our coaches can provide individualized feedback and adjustments to ensure you are getting the most out of your workout.

  • Camaraderie: Training with a small group of like-minded women creates a supportive and motivating environment, helping you stay committed to your fitness journey.

  • Cost-Effective: Small group training offers the benefits of personal training at a more affordable rate.

  • Accountability: The group setting encourages accountability, as members often motivate each other to show up and push their limits.

7. How can I start training with KALO Fitness? You can start by booking an initial consultation at the top of this page!

8. Why does KALO have an onboarding process? Our onboarding process is designed to ensure that every new member receives the support and guidance they need to start their fitness journey successfully. During onboarding, we:

  • Assess Your Goals: We take the time to understand your individual fitness goals, health history, and any specific needs or concerns.

  • Introduce Our Programs: You'll learn about our training methods, nutritional guidelines, and wellness resources to help you get the most out of your membership.

9. How does the onboarding process work? The onboarding process at KALO Fitness includes the following steps:

  1. Schedule an initial consultation via Zoom (scroll up to book)

  2. Fill out the onboarding form

  3. During your call we will get you placed in a small group or private training session, and we will get you going!

9. Can I try a class before committing to a membership? Yes! However we still do require you to go through the onboarding process first. Because KALO is not a large group training studio, we will still need to place you into a group.

10. What should I expect from KALO’s training programs? Our training programs are designed specifically for women and follow a progressive overloading protocol with 5-week cycles focusing on foundations, strength, power, and endurance. Each session includes intention setting, breathwork, mobility, core specific work, strength training and metabolic conditioning. Our programming is specifically curated for women and builds on itself each week for 5 weeks, preventing plateaus. During each cycle your weights and performance will be recorded in some way, so you can truly see yourself getting stronger as the cycle goes on and have a personalized goal.

11. What are KALO’s nutritional guidelines? Our nutritional guidelines emphasize balanced meals with proper hydration, blood sugar regulation, protein intake, and whole food consumption. We offer personalized nutrition coaching through our nutritional health coach, Elena Stophel.

12. Do you offer prenatal and postpartum fitness programs? Yes, we offer specialized programs like the Strong Mama Fitness Guide, designed to safely guide women through fitness during and after pregnancy. This includes strength training, mobility exercises, and core rehabilitation tailored for prenatal and postpartum stages. In addition we have pregnancy specific trainers, mom groups on our app,  and run new mama + baby classes at the studio.

13. How does KALO Fitness support women’s health beyond physical training? KALO takes a holistic approach by addressing mental, emotional, and social well-being. We offer services like breathwork, contrast therapy, educational seminars, habit building challenges,  nature events, and intentional community-building activities to support overall wellness.

15. How often do your recommend training at KALO? For the best results, we recommend training at least 2-4x per week. In your initial consultation we will create a plan of action so you know exactly what you should be doing each day based on your goals.
